Teaching Woman Program
For college-aged women

Teaching Women are college-aged women trained to serve as teaching assistants to the professional Girls’ LEAP Self-Defense instructors.  The program is an opportunity for personal and professional development in the areas of leadership, intergenerational mentoring, coaching, and guidance.

Program Activities:

  • Assist  in teaching at least 1 program per semester (standard programs run for 10 weeks, 3 hours per week).
  • Organize and/or participate in on-campus outreach and awareness events to promote awareness of violence against girls and women in the community.
  • Attend weekly, on-campus meetings that will offer additional training, support, and reflection.


Who Can Apply?

Women aged 18 years or older who have earned a high school diploma, particularly those who are or who will be in September of 2011, current students at Northeastern University, Simmons College, or Lesley University.
